RCIA/OCIA FAQs
What is OCIA?
OCIA is a unique program of initiation, formation and spiritual growth. The goals are:
►To prepare non-Catholic adults desiring to receive the Initiation Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
►To prepare previously baptized Catholics desiring to complete their initiation by receiving the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
►To prepare validly baptized non-Catholics who may be interested in becoming Catholics.
Who can attend RCIA/OCIA?
RCIA/OCIA accommodates a mixed group of adults age 18 and older:
►Persons desiring to learn about and/or join the Catholic Church.
►Baptized Catholics desiring to complete their Sacraments (First Communion and Confirmation).
►Fully initiated Catholics desiring to learn more about or update their understanding of Catholicism.
What is the format?
►RCIA/OCIA sessions are scripture-based discussions, facilitated by a laity and priest team in an informal atmosphere that encourages questions.
►These sessions are held weekly.
►Because RCIA/OCIA is a journey toward life in the Christian (Catholic) faith, individuals are able to discern how their lives will be lived differently if they trust in Jesus and faith resides in their hearts..
When & where does it meet?
Weekly sessions to prepare Catechumens and Candidates for the reception of the Sacraments will be held in the Holy Family Center. Sponsors are needed to support and encourage each person. Dates to be announced.
How often does it meet?
The sessions for 2025-2026 will be held Sundays beginning September 14th, with attendance at the 9 AM Mass followed by discussion in the Holy Family Center until 11:30 AM. Class dates are continuous every Sunday except Thanksgiving & Christmas vacations. Please complete the Inquiry form online at the link below.
