Mexico Mercy Prosthetics

Since 2015, The Corporal Works of Mercy Ministry has helped more than 900 patients in Tijuana regain their independence through the gift of a prosthesis.

We see patients from many walks of life and many causes for their amputations. The most common cause of amputation in Mexico is diabetes. The absence of medical attention, poverty levels and lack of education all contribute to the high rate of diabetes in the area. In addition, we have helped cancer patients, victims of accidents, and victims of violence.

Whatever the cause, amputees suffer greatly with the loss of a limb. They struggle with depression and feelings of hopelessness. Their independence turns to dependency and they don’t know where to turn.

Our program helps people get back to work, continue to be a contributing member of the family, and regain their independence and dignity.
